In 1970, Lee Hagopian and his son Milton “Nubs” decided to go into business together by purchasing an abandoned Mobil Oil gas station at the corner of 68th Street and 14th Avenue in downtown Kenosha. They named it Lee’s Service Center, which they operated for five years.
In 1973, Lee and Nubs expanded their business by buying Barrows Rental, located at 30th Avenue and 50th Street. They renamed it Lee’s Rent It, which soon became a staple in the Kenosha community. They managed both businesses until 1975, when they decided to close Lee’s Service Center to focus their time and energy on Lee’s Rent It.
Lee’s Rent It operated at the 30th Avenue location for 13 years. In 1986, they moved to their current location at 4502 38th Avenue (near the intersection of 39th Avenue and 45th Street). Lee and Milton worked together until Lee’s passing in 2002. Afterward, Milton brought his wife Dorothy into the business, and they have been working together ever since.
In April 2024, Milton sold Lee’s Rent It to Greg Antonetti, a small business owner. Greg hired Jim Stoddard, a long-time Kenosha resident, to run Lee’s Rent It as the General Manager.
